If you are a fan of spicy cheese dip then this one is the one for you. This easy to make cheesy chip-dip only requires four steps. Only taking 20 minutes to get ready and another 1-1/2 hours to cook, you can have this dip ready within 2 hours of starting it, making it a perfect snack with chips for your next family gathering or game day party.

Prepare the meat beforehand so it is ready when you need it. You can even prepare it the night before if you like, since you will be heating it up along with the rest of the ingredients. This recipe uses spicy breakfast sausage for its great taste. Chop up the sausage into small pieces and cook in a frying pan until brown. Drain the grease and set it aside for use in the in the slow cooker.

In addition, to make this recipe, which serves 8, you need a 3-quart or larger slow cooker. You also need the following ingredients:

  • 1 pound spicy breakfast sausage, browned and drained
  • 1 pound Velveeta cheese, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and diced
  • 1/2 cup salsa (any kind will do)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

The best thing about this dip is that it is so versatile and allows you to switch out some of the ingredients for others. Some of the optional ingredients you can use include whole corn diced tomatoes. You can also use Italian sausage instead of breakfast sausage if you prefer.

As stated, this cheese dip only takes four steps, meaning that it is fast and easy to prepare. To make more dip, if you are expecting a larger crowd than 8, simply double the ingredients and use a 6-quart slow cooker. You should also cook the cheese dip for 2 hours instead of 1-1/2 hours to take into account the extra ingredients.

Step 1: Mix all of the ingredients together

Start by mixing all of the ingredients in a 3-quart slow cooker. Make sure that they are mixed well. You also need to make sure that the cheese is mixed in well with the rest of the ingredients.

Step 2: Turn on high and put on the lid

Once you have stirred the ingredients until they are thoroughly mixed, it is time to turn up the heat. Cover and cook on high.

Step 3: Cook the cheesy dip

This recipe takes about 1-1/2 to 2 hours to cook. You should also stir the mixture every 30 minutes or so. You will know the dip is ready when the cheese is melted and the dip is hot.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy with friends, family, co-workers, or by yourself!

Serve by placing the dip in a shallow open container or bowl. Place some chips next to it and you and your friends, family, and other guests are ready to party. Make sure to warn everyone that it is spicy, though, since not everyone likes spicy food.
