It’s always an exciting time, isn’t it? If you’re one of those people who look forward to decorating your home for Christmas, you’re already browsing and scanning the stores for decorations.

But this can cost a lot of dough.

Decorations don’t have to be spendy.

There are simple, easy, and quick ornaments and decorations you can make on your own.

This one only needs some paper and a pair of scissors. Ready to make them? Let’s start.

You’ll need a paper square

You can use any type of paper, any color, and of any size. Just make sure that it’s cut into a square, meaning all sides must have the same measurement.

In the video, she’s using a 5-inch square.

Fold the paper in half.

Do this in an upward direction.

Find a point (let’s call this Point A) at the left side that is at least 1/3 the length of the folded paper.

If you’re not sure about the measurements, you can always use and refer to a ruler.

Fold bottom right corner to Point A.

Now, you can see that the fold created a triangular space below. Flip the paper to the other side and fold the paper inwards, following the side where you folded at Point A a while ago.

Fold the paper in half, letting to sides meet. Then, rotate the paper 180 degrees with the pointed end up. Hold the paper with your hand.

If you’re left-handed, flip it to the other side.

Cut the paper crosswise.

Use the lower right point or corner as your starting point.

Cut through to the other side.

You can cut half of the length of the other side to make an average-sized star. You can also change the angle or size of the cut to change the look of your star.

Going for a wider angle and cutting it more than half would create a bulkier star, though it would look less of a star.

On the other hand, cutting it in a narrower angle would make stars with longer spikes.

Open the paper you just cut.

It doesn’t fold like a star just yet, but all you need to do is enforce the folds. You can do the small folds first, then turn it around and fold the longer ones.

Viola! You’re done. It’s so simple, right?

She even made one in a minute.

Wowza!

Of course, there’s a learning curve to it, so don’t expect to finish one in a minute right away. It takes practice and a lot of trial and error.

You can create different designs.

You can paint it, add glitter, or glue some ribbons, sequins- the sky is the limit.

You can create stars of different sizes, stack them, and glue them together for a layered star.

That’s the best thing about this DIY decoration, you can design it the way you want.
