Thanks to the internet, searching for effective lifehacks is as easy as 1-2-3. We basically search for everything that we need online and almost all DIYs that we need to know is already there. When you think about Ice cubes, you usually think about cold beverages, but not anymore.

In one particular video, YouTube user HelloIamBear shows us a life hack that will save you time, while also keeping your clothes looking nice and neat. Since we live in a fast-paced world, most of us don’t have time to do our laundry let alone iron them as well.

Thanks to ice cubes, you may be able to skip that process.

“By simply placing two to three ice cubes in your dryer and setting it on high heat for just a few minutes, the wrinkles in your clothes smooth out. By doing this, your dryer is essentially steaming your clothes, because the ice cubes melt into water, and it becomes hot enough to create steam.”

This lifesaving hack is perfect for anyone who’s always in a rush or even parents who have endless loads of house chores. It can seriously save your sanity.

However, it is advised to only use this trick with only a small load of cotton clothes. Heavy clothing like jeans, denim, blankets, and the like will not work.

It’s even simpler than it seems, just put your wrinkled clothes in the dryer and watch the magic happen. Once you’ve put your clothes in the dryer, grab anywhere from 3-5 ice cubes or depending on the number of your laundry.

Remember, it doesn’t work great with full loads, so keep it small.

Once your clothes are in the dryer, and you’ve got the ice cubes ready, just throw them in and turn your dryer on. Voilà, your clothes come out wrinkle-free.

If you didn’t happen to have ice cubes, you could also mist your clothes with a water bottle or throw a wet washcloth in there to get the same effect.

The effectiveness of any lifehacks always varies, it depends on the materials that were used and if instructions were clear. This ice cube trick has its pros and cons, but this one is so easy that it’s definitely worth a try!

Viewers of this DIY video had mixed reactions to the effectiveness of the ice cubes. Some of the comments were:

“Thank you so much for testing this out!! I’m old school so if I were your wife I’d still tell you to get that iron out. But it’s nice to know this can be useful in a situation with limited time.”

“I tried this a few mins ago with a pair of jeans and it didn’t work. Guess it only works on shirts or thin material pants, like slacks.”
