There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to a construction project, especially when you are renovating an old space to give it a new look. In many cases, the planning that goes into such a project can take almost as long as putting in the work to make it happen.
One New Jersey company is pulling ahead of the competition with its amazing projects. Best of all, they film the whole process and make it into a time-lapse video. One of these videos, which has gotten over 2.6 million views, shows an amazing backyard makeover, complete with dual decks.
Premier Outdoor Living
Started in 2015, Premier Outdoor Living is the brainchild of contractor Sean Collinsgru. Sean and his crew start by planning out the whole project. This allows them to work quickly once the renovation and construction start without having to go back and make costly corrections.
An epic backyard makeover begins
This backyard makeover begins in earnest with the initial preparations for the main deck. Once the deck materials are in place, the work can begin.
The project starts with preparing the house for the coming deck, as well as the front outer edge of the deck being established. Like many projects, getting the first initial steps just right makes it easier to ensure everything else comes together correctly. As they say, measure twice and cut only once.
Next, it is time to prepare the ground, especially where the second deck will be located. Once that is complete, the cross beams are placed on the main deck. With the deck coming into shape, the final cuts are made. Next up is the secondary deck, which will be separate from the main deck attached to the house.
This deck will sit a little apart from the main deck, but it is just as important with this deck to make sure everything is square and that the framework of the deck is laid out correctly. A mistake now could lead to costly mistakes and wasted time, so Sean and his crew work hard to make sure everything is correct.
Completing the landscaping
With both deck frames in place, it is time to start on the surrounding landscape. This requires the bringing in of gravel and other materials that will play a big part in making sure the backyard looks just right when completed. And, just like the decks, time taken now can ensure that the rest of the project goes smoothly.
Adding the finishing touches
Finally, it is time to place the paver stones and finishing touches. The design of the pavers used in this project really ties the whole look together, especially around the firepit area off to the side. As a final touch, some plants and flowers are added to give the area some color.
