Amish teach homesteader how to save seeds for next growing season and it’s so simple
I think it's safe to say that the Amish know a thing or two about gardening. What a great way to ensure next year's harvest.

Did you notice how pricey our necessities are?

A few cents per item will accumulate into a few dollars after checkout.

With this in mind, Doug and Stacy of the YouTube channel OFF GRID with DOUG & STACY wanted to share their insight and tips to grow your food and never experience scarcity of supplies.

In 2010, Doug and Stacy decided to make a life-changing decision.

They sold everything they owned and built their forever home, a log cabin on 11 acres of property.

From there, the couple lived utilizing what nature gives them without public utilities and electrical power, and they couldn’t be happier.

This couple wants all of us to learn that God has given us all the things we need.

So they’re sharing tips.

We just have to know how to cultivate our resources, and we will never go hungry.

In a YouTube video, Doug shared a bible quote.

Genesis 1:29, NIV: Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.’

According to Doug, the system has trapped all of us in a cycle of consuming and then coming back to buy supplies, which should not be the case.

In this specific video, Doug and Stacy explained how you can save seeds so you can have another batch the next growing season.

It’s unbelievably simple.

The first step that we see is Stacy getting three pots and filling them up with dirt.

Then, she took three different tomatoes.

In this video, she had Cherokee purple tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and Stacy’s favorite, the pink Brandywine tomatoes.

She said you can use any type of tomatoes you want and she chose these three.

Stacy sliced the tomatoes as you would if you were putting them on a sandwich.

Then, she put them in the dirt.

Labels matter

Once she was done, she made sure she labeled each one of them.

The next step is to store them somewhere dark like a root cellar, basement, a closet, or if you have a dedicated space for them, that would be better.

Place them there and forget about them until the next season, when you’re about to plant them.

You don’t even have to water.

After a few months, when you’re ready to plant them, just remove them from your dark room and start watering them and give them a little sun.

Soon, you will see hundreds of seedlings!

You can transplant them or share them with your neighbors. Wait and harvest your own healthy and organic tomatoes.

A simple blessing
