Some people don’t like to live by “traditional” standards. A 77-year-old woman by the name of Penny is one such person. The little lady moved from Alaska to move into a tiny home that has everything she needs.

The expression “less is more” has been taken to reach a new meaning. The cultural movement of living a minimalistic lifestyle has influenced many people’s entire perspective on how to have their setup built. Many of the reasons to let go of so much clutter is to clean out space and really let go of things that serve no purpose in one’s life.

Selling over half of her belongings

If you’ve been hesitant to try it out because you’ve been curious to see someone else’s experience with living tiny, then you’ve come to the right place! Penny, a 77-year-old lady who sold over half of her possessions, decided it was time for a change of pace and decided to live in a tiny home.

“Hi, I’m Penny, and this is my tiny house ‘Silver girl.’ I’ve been here since December and living in a tiny home is so much different from living in a real house, and I love it because I got rid of over half of everything I owned to come here, and I just think it’s great. It takes ten minutes to clean the house from top to bottom so that’s a good thing.”

A tiny wooden home

Penny’s home is marvelously built as a small wooden unit. It’s adorably adorned with vintage furniture, such as a couch that has been with her for over 25 years. The inside is all-natural pine, except the bathroom which is cedar wood. Thanks to the high ceilings, the house appears to be bigger than what it actually is.

Meet Silver Girl!

Penny named her lovely home, “Silver Girl”. The unit comes with a propane stove as well as a vent to help with aromatics and smoke created. Penny claims her electric bill is only $20 with heat included. You heard that right! One of the best benefits of living tiny is the under consumption of resources which allows you to save some spare change on the sides each month.

A roomy bathroom

The bathroom is incredibly spacious. It has all the bells and whistles you would imagine including a shower/bathtub, toilet, faucet, and a window to look to the outside. Since it runs through a septic tank, it’s as if you’re using your regular home restroom. How about that for convenience?

Endless storage

The bedroom is high enough so that there is storage underneath it. Additionally, there are storage spaces by the ceiling for boxes or any miscellaneous items like decorations and/or shoes.

One of the most fascinating aesthetic highlights of the home is the iron railing. It looks as if the design was made with much care and attention to detail. Penny seems to agree that the design has also won her affection.

Penny keeps an insulated loft space for her dog. She has a bed and a treadmill for her dog to train whenever it rains or the weather is too bothersome to be outside. The setup is just too cute! Penny sure did think of everything when designing this nifty work of architecture.

Tiny living isn’t for everyone

It’s incredible to think Penny is 77-years-old and has been able to accomplish such an amazing feat. Most adults living in America would never dare to live in space even double the size of Penny’s tiny home.

She was really happy that she went along with her decision because it allows her to have more time with her dog and to engage in other activities that call her attention.

As it turns out, Penny is selling her home now that her disability is preventing her from using her loft effectively. She says the idea of a loft would be great for those youngsters in their 20’s, but it’s a totally different story when you’re almost 80 and suffering from physical ailments.
