Whether it’s with lumber, steel, bricks, or concrete, there are many materials that can make a home. But sometimes, you gotta work with what you got, and that includes giant metal containers seen stacked on cargo ships.
In the woods of Hocking Hills, Ohio is a cabin built from repurposed shipping containers.
This 900 square-foot barn home, “L3nee’s Lay-up,” is named after the basketball-playing daughter of the couple hosting this Airbnb lodging. The number three represents the daughter’s number
YouTube personality and Airbnb tour guide, Levi Kelly, provided an in-depth tour of the home.
“I don’t think there’s a single Airbnb rental anywhere in the world like this one,” said Kelly in his tour. “The left and right sides are the two shipping containers that make up this home, and in the middle, they enclosed kind of the middle and made the space a lot bigger.”
The lodging offers a quiet, rural getaway for families, hikers, and even basketball aficionados.

The kitchen also includes accommodations such as coffee, creamers, and hot cocoa.
Inside, the living room is snug and cozy with a fireplace and complimentary games, along with a state-of-the-art kitchen and a beautiful handcrafted dining table. T-shirts available for purchase can also be found in the living room cabinet.
The house also includes two master bedrooms with adjustable queen mattresses, along with two bathrooms with leather-clad cabinets, all locations are luxurious and with identical layouts.
But the greatest attraction of the Lay-up is the enclosed basketball half-court.
With direct access to the outdoor patio area, the court comes with a smooth concrete flooring, six basketballs, two benches, and a safety net to block the exit and prevent accidents.
Also at the back patio, guests can dine outside, warm themselves by the fire pit in the backyard, grab a complimentary walking stick and go for a hike in the woods, or enjoy a soothing dip in the bubbling hot tub.
“The options are endless out here,” said Kelly, “and totally enjoyable to be here.”
Lenee’s Lay-up is available on the Airbnb market at a price of $585 per night.
