Recycling, repurposing, and upcycling has been trending for several years now. The more people find ways to reuse everyday items the more creative they get. On one website, the host offers some incredible options using something that we all look at every day … the shower curtain.

Outdoor theater

A lot of people love watching movies outside but drive-ins are hard to come by. Well, by hanging up a white shower curtain on your patio, you can create a cozy outdoor theater. Just add some cushy chairs, popcorn, and beverages, and the entire family will have a blast.

Placemats

Instead of buying expensive placements, you can make some out of a shower curtain. Simply cut them the correct size and hot glue the edges to prevent fraying. In minutes, you’ll have a beautiful table setting that would be perfect on a patio.

Window treatments

For this, all you need to do is hang command hooks on either side of a window or glass door. Then, slip a curtain rod over tension rods. The final step … set the rods on the hooks.

Outdoor pillowcases

You can buy a new shower curtain or find one at your local thrift store. Cut the curtain a few inches larger than the pillows you’ll place inside and as with the other project, put hot glue around the edges, and fold the material over for a nice finished seam.

Then, add adhesive fasteners to the opening so you can easily slip the pillows in and out of the waterproof pillowcases.

Enhanced pillowcases

If wanted, you can take the pillowcases you just made from a shower curtain up a notch. One option is to cut out the decorative pockets from a pair of jeans someone outgrew. Then cut the bottom portion of the legs. As you’ll see in the video, you’ll end up with a “journal pillowcase,” perfect for teenagers in the home.
