Have you ever looked at your kid’s glue-all and said “Hey, I could make something out of that!”

Glue is a ubiquitous adhesive product used by kids and adults worldwide.

This simple-to-use substance can turn mundane things into works of art, like cardboard crafts and paper dolls.

Not only that, adhesives such as these can also help us fix things or put them together with stronger bonds.

From paper to canvas, to wood, and cardboard, this product has been tested through the years.

It gets the job done.

But putting things together isn’t the only thing you can do with glue. Here are some projects that you can make at home with minimum skills and materials.

Make a fake-water vase.

The only things you’ll need for this project are glue, decorative stones, plastic flowers, and a clear glass vase.

You can use color or tinted ones but crystal clear is highly recommended.

  1. Pour about two cups of glue into the vase.
  2. Before it sets, toss some decorative clear stones into the glue puddle.
  3. Then, arrange the plastic flowers according to your liking.

What you’ll end up with is a flower arrangement that won’t be disturbed even if kids are running around.

It will be a perfect centerpiece for your coffee table or fireplace mantle.

Make tinted jars:

For this one, you’ll need a mason jar, some glue, and a coloring agent like food coloring. This mason jar can be used as a container but not for drinks or food.

  1. First, in about half a cup of glue, mix in your preferred shade of food coloring. Mix the glue well.
  2. Then, pour it into the mason jar. Lean the mason jar on one side to let the colored glue cover it. Roll the mason jar until all sides are colored.
  3. Set it upside down and let it drip for about 10 minutes.
  4. Wipe off any excess drips on the rim of the jar.
  5. Set it upside down over a parchment paper then place it in the oven.
  6. Dial 175 degrees for about 20 minutes to help the coloring set.
  7. Let it cool at room temperature.

Now you have a colored jar that you can adorn with dried flowers, or organizers for small things like coins, markers, or trinkets.

Make a “stained glass” window.

For this project, you’ll need a glass standing frame, paper or stencils, glue, acrylic paint, and puffy paint. It’s better to use recycled picture frames for this one.

  1. Draw your stained glass outline on a piece of paper. You can do simple grids or elaborate ones.
  2. Place the glass frame cover on the paper.
  3. Using puffy paint, trace the outlines of your design.
  4. Mix a few dollops of acrylic paint with two or so tablespoons of glue. Make as many varieties as you need.
  5. Fill the spaces with colored glue. Set it aside until dry.

You now have a small “stained glass” window that’s perfect for any shelf by your door or window. Place it in a spot where the sunlight hits so it can burst into colors.

Make canvas art.

You’ll need canvas, glue, hot glue, sand, and paint of your choice. For this one, we’ll use spray paint and gold metallic paint.

  1. Draw the outline of the shape you want. For this video, we’ll be tracing a quarter of a circle twice, one to serve as the sun and the other the moon.
  2. Trace some hot glue over the outlines. You may do repeated runs to give it more texture. You can dot surfaces and spaces to give it a more “bumpy” texture.

  1. Brush the canvas with glue mixed with water then sprinkle sand over the canvas. Shake off the canvas to reveal spots that need more sand. Fill them accordingly.
  2. After drying the glue, cover the canvases with spray paint to create a base. Then, paint the outlines with metallic paint.

This simple art project can be placed on your shelf for additional charm and accent. The texture of the dotted glue will certainly make the shapes pop out.
