With the help of online resources, DIY projects have skyrocketed tremendously. People are tuning into their creative sides in order to manifest incredible projects that they never believed could be achieved.

A DIY instructional video provides us with clear steps to create a drinking trough for a picnic table. The man’s name is Danny Lipford who provides us with exceptional step by step methods on how to get this project finished.

He has a website called, “Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford” where he documents his knowledge and lays out the appropriate steps. His remodeling career has extended for over 40 years!

Grab your nails, screws, and bolts because it’s time to get a little handy with our hands. The video begins with Lipford explaining how to set the table up properly so that centerpiece is not compromised.

He very carefully utilizes his measuring tape and woodcutter to properly calculate how he wants to set this table up. The man first makes sure to remove any diagonal braces that are in the center of the table.

Danny begins to mark the center cleats an inch and a half back from the center board under on the other side. With the saw blade set an inch and a half of space, he cuts the cleats on both points and removes the centerpiece in order to make space for the gutter.

Then he proceeds to reinforce the inside of the table by adding 2×4 wooden boards and attaching it with two and a half-inch screws, but very careful to not screw in the centerpiece along with the other boards.

A measuring tape is required to make sure that the centerpiece is even enough where the gutter can fit. The centerpiece has to be cut in a way where it can fit in the middle of the table and can be removed.

Make sure to reattach the wooden blocks that were cut from the centerpiece either by screwing manually or with a screwdriver. This would allow the gutter to fit tightly snug in the middle.

Now you can go ahead and attach a piece of a 5-inch rain gutter to the center. To do this you would have to use a strong adhesive that can maintain the gutter attached to the table.

Finally, attach the gutter with sheet metal screws along the sides of the boards in the center gap. This will allow the gutter to stay in place and not risk it from falling.

The gutter should be easily covered by the centerpiece if everything was done correctly. Make sure to open a whole on top of the centerpiece in order to close the gutter when not in use.

Ta da! After all the hard work is done, we can finally cool down with some refreshing drinks in our new picnic table.

The end result is nothing short of breathtaking and what’s even more impressive is how seemingly easy it was to craft this idea. All it took was just careful measurements, designing, and acquiring the right tools to make it all come together perfectly.

The picnic table can be also used to store things like condiments, paper plates, or any other picnic necessary item. You can even make a makeshift planter where you can adorn the table with your favorite plants.
