Grandma’s recipes have long been a subject of mystery. What are those secret ingredients, that so many covet, but are only disclosed to the most trusted of successors. Well, sometimes there’s some secret method (usually, it’s just baking soda!). Other times, it may just turn out that what makes Granny’s recipe so good isn’t actually how difficult it is to make, but quite the opposite. Sometimes, what makes a recipe remarkable is how you can quickly and easily whip something up (no pun intended!) without too much sweat and tears. We’ve found a recipe that fits that description!
Here’s a delectable chocolate brownie cake that will not require too much head-scratching!
Ingredients before you begin:
- 1 box of chocolate cake mix
- 1 box of fudge brownie mix
- 4 eggs
- 1 1/4 cups of water
- 1 cup of oil
- 1 cup of heavy whipping cream
- 1 12-ounce bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Let’s make a chocolate brownie cake shall we?
First things first, let’s get that oven nice and hot. 350 degrees is the sweet spot. Then, find your Bundt pan and grease it up with cooking spray or line it with butter and flour if that’s more your style.
Mix it up!
Next, once the oven is on its way to being at temperature and your pan is ready to go, mix together that chocolate cake mix, brownie mix, eggs, water and oil in a large mixing bowl. And get all those lumps out! Remember, we want to get that batter silky smooth.
Hope that oven is hot, because it’s baking time!
When the batter has been thoroughly mixed (but not over-mixed!), pour it into the Bundt pan and throw it in that oven for roughly 50 to 55 minutes (in British time, that’s roughly 5 cups of tea). You can do the toothpick test to ensure the cake is done. Then, let is sit in the pan for about five minutes. After that, you can carefully turn it over onto a cooling rack for about 30 minutes.
What ya ganache do next?
While the cake itself cools down, you can crack on with the ganache. Take a microwave safe bowl and pour in it your heavy whipping cream. Microwave it for about 2 minutes until the cream is barely boiling.
Chips, the chocolate kind.
Next, pour those chocolate chips into the bowl with the milk. Don’t worry if it begins to froth and rise up, you haven’t done anything wrong. Give it five minutes to sit together, then whisk the chocolate and cream. When the mixture is well incorporated, shiny and smooth throughout, you’re done.
The finishing touches.
When all of that is done, pour that ganache over your now-cooled cake, and that puppy is ready to serve, just like Granny used to make. Of course, you can chose to keep this secret to yourself if you wish!
