Jenn starts by laying the chicken on the bottom of the pot. Use a liner if you prefer. All the other ingredients follow. Jenn adds the chicken soup on top of the breasts then throws in the 2 packets of gravy mix.

Then she adds the garlic powder, poultry seasoning and black pepper. Jenn adds that there’s no need for salt as the gravy mix takes care of that.

She adds in two cups of water, puts the lid on, and cooks the chicken on low for 6 to 8 hours. Easy!

Chicken is always better with proper sidings.

Jenn chose to make mashed potatoes and butternut squash as requested by her kids. She takes pride in the fact that the kitchen is the heart of her home. So when her kids request for a certain meal, she’s more than happy to oblige.

For the potatoes, you need:

  • 1/2 stick unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • generous pinch of kosher salt
  • pinch black pepper
  • 1/4 – 1/3 cup heavy cream or milk

While for the butternut squash,

  • 1 large butternut squash
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Jenn peels the potatoes before giving them a thorough rinsing saying that they were locally grown. She chops them up in to medium sized pieces so they’d cook quickly. Jenn gets the potatoes on the stove to boil before cutting up her squash in half.

She peels both sides then cuts them up in half again. Scoop out the seeds then cut them up in to the same sizes as those potatoes before putting them in a pot for a good boil.

Jenn lifts the lid to check on her chicken and they are so soft they’re literally falling apart.

Already, the chicken looks good enough to eat on their own but she sets the pot to warm before focusing her attention on the potatoes and squash. Imagine the smell!

She boils the potatoes until they fall apart then she adds half a stick of unsalted butter then 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream or milk, garlic powder, then kosher salt. Season to taste.

Jenn uses a mixer to mash and mix everything together, literally taking seconds minus the hassle of extra work.

For the squash, she drains the water then adds 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter allowing them to melt on top before adding some cinnamon. It’s up to you if you want a lot or not. Some salt and a tablespoon of sugar finishes it off before Jenn mixes them all together. The goal is pureed squash!

All three take less than 30 minutes to do. But you end up with a delicious meal that’s sure to please any hungry human around!
