An old church built in 1792 stands overlooking the northern England coast.

The church sat empty for 25 years, beginning in the 1980s, with headstones in the yard. It appears to be the ideal setting for a horror film, but one family chose to make it their home instead.

The couple fell in love with the church and decided to purchase and renovate it.

There are now five bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living rooms, and two kitchens in the house.

The St. Nicholas Church has been converted into one of the most beautiful houses we’ve ever seen.

The church is located in Kyloe, a hillside hamlet about six miles from England’s Northumberland coast. It has kept much of its exterior architectural features.

However, it conceals a lovely, glorious secret on the inside.

The great room is made up of the living room, dining room, and kitchen.

It also incorporates the church’s chancel, nave, and vestry.

Although the skylights were added during the renovation, the original stained glass windows remain in the home.

The height of the church’s ceilings was preserved, giving the space a grandiose feel. But cozy furnishings and decor keep it comfortable.

The church house’s library and second floor are accessed via double staircases.

The open-timbered ceiling of the room pays homage to the church’s history, as do biblical extracts written in a tin along the great room’s edge.

The main kitchen is impressive enough for a gourmet chef.

The stunning cabinetry was made from pitch pine reclaimed from old church pews and roof timber.

The church house has an under-floor central heating system in addition to full-size gourmet appliances.

The magnificent dining room appears to have been designed for a royal family.

This elegant room features a long wooden table beneath beautiful glass-stained windows.

Long red velvet curtains can be drawn to create one of the home’s bedrooms. It can be accessed via a small set of stairs to the right.

Step out of the living room and into a hallway that leads to another ‘wing’ of the house. This hallway leads to a winter kitchen, an extra bedroom, and one of the two bathrooms features stunning Brazilian slate flooring.

The main bathroom is without a doubt one of the most beautiful rooms in the house.

A 12-foot stained glass window is framed by a clawfoot bathtub. Don’t worry about getting out of the tub in such a large open area. The room has heated floors as well as two heated towel racks.

There are two more “mirror-image” bedrooms upstairs.

Each room has handcrafted storage, a skylight, and enough space for a king-sized bed and other furniture.

This breathtaking and unusual conversion is one of the most impressive we’ve seen.
