One of the simplest and most practical DIY projects for your home or yard is a bench.
There’s always use for more seating, and the right bench can really add a lot to your space.
You can build a bench of out many materials–wood being the most obvious.
But how about building a bench out of cinderblocks?
It sounds a bit ugly and uncomfortable, right?
Well, if you follow the instructions from Suzelle’s YouTube video, your cinderblock bench will be anything but ugly and uncomfortable.
In the video below, you can watch as Suzelle, a DIY vlogger, walks her viewers through building a crafty and very beautiful cinderblock bench.
As you might imagine, you start this project with… well, cinderblocks.
However, in order to give your bench a little flare, Suzelle recommends painting the blocks.
She uses spray paint and tape to create patterns on her blocks.
This is your chance to put your own creativity to the test.
Next, Suzelle stacks the cinderblocks until they create a bench seat, armrests, and a backrest.
Be sure to use glue or cement to attach the blocks, otherwise, they may come crashing down when people take a seat.
Even with the decorations on the blocks, the bench still doesn’t look particularly comfy or pretty.
To help with this, Suzelle uses flowers.
She fills the holes in the cinderblocks with soil and plants various flowers and other plants to bring beauty to the bench.
You can use whatever flowers or plants you’d like for this, making this bench uniquely yours.
Now comes the comfort.
Although you could use this bench as is, sitting on cinderblocks isn’t going to be comfortable for very long.
Suzelle recommends adding cushions and pillows to your bench.
With a little padding, you won’t even feel the blocks that you are sitting on.
This is a great DIY project for those who love to host parties.
One thing that every good backyard party has is enough seating for everyone to enjoy.
And it’s even better when that seating is funky and unique.
You could place this bench right in the front of your yard, so lots of people will have the chance to enjoy it, or you could tuck it away into a quiet part of the yard, where only the few who stumble across it will get to enjoy it.
Either way, this cinderblock bench will certainly be a hit at your next backyard bbq.
