Even if you are on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean, you can still turn your television on in the middle of the day or night.

Video doorbells are fairly new, and they allow you to see who is outside your home. Some people will ring the doorbell to see if anyone is home before they break into the home. When the person rings a video doorbell, the video is displayed on your phone or computer screen.
You can see exactly who is at your home whether you are right inside or at work. Some even have microphones, so you can talk to the person. If it’s someone you know, you can tell them you aren’t home. If it’s someone you don’t know, you can tell them to get lost and threaten to call the police.

Floodlights are great at lighting up your yard to deter thieves, but they are even better when they allow you to see, hear, and talk to whoever is nearby. You can attach a few floodlights around your yard, and not only will they stay lit up anytime someone comes around, you can keep an eye on things while you are away.
You can even yell at a possible thief if you choose. Nothing scares someone away faster than random voice coming from nowhere. You can control it all from your phone.
